Communication Engineering Research Group
Summary
Communication Engineering Research Group (CERG) focuses on design and development of advanced communication techniques to provide efficient and robust information transmission over wired and wireless networks. Working in concert with academia and industry partners, the group is dedicated to research on information and communication theory, source and channel coding, encryption, and wireless communication and networking. Both undergraduate and graduate levels courses are offered by the faculty members in this group.
Facilities
The facilities of CERG include with state-of-the-art equipment, including a digital storage oscilloscope TDS6154C with 12 GHz analog bandwidth for signal measurement and monitoring, a wireless communications analyzer WCA280A with measurement capabilities up to 8 GHz, and five logic analyzers TLA 5202 for high-speed digital circuits design and development. Ten workstations are also available to support the algorithm simulation and development. The laboratory recently obtained USRP (the universal software radio peripheral) package, which provides students research opportunities on software defined radio (SDR). Software tools include MATLAB and toolboxes, Visual studio, Cadence, LabVIEW and TI DSK Code Composer Studio IDE.
