Program Educational Objectives & Outcomes
I. Introduction
The terminology used in this document has the same connotations as specified in the ABET Criteria for Accrediting Engineering Programs, Program educational objectives are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve. Program outcomes are narrower statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation.
II. Program Educational Objectives:
- Our graduates will be productive in the professional practice of electrical engineering and related fields. They will obtain employment appropriate to their background, interests, and education and will advance in their career.
- Our graduates will engage in life-long learning demonstrated by advanced education/degrees, professional development activities, and/or other career-appropriate options.
-
Our graduates employed within engineering fields will demonstrate technical competence in identifying, formulating, analyzing, and creating engineering solutions.
III. Program Outcomes:
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science with a major in electrical engineering, students are enabled to achieve the following outcomes:
- Apply knowledge of mathematics, engineering and science.
- Design and conduct experiments to verify and validate the design projects developed by them, and analyze and interpret data.
- Develop project-based learning skills through design and implementation of a system, component, or process that meets the needs within realistic constraints.
- Function in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
- Have an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
- Communicate effectively.
- Achieve broad education necessary to understand the impact of electrical engineering solutions in a global and societal context.
- Understand learning processes, concepts of learning to learn, and engage in lifelong learning.
- Achieve knowledge of contemporary issues.
- Use techniques, skills, and computer-based tools for conducting experiments and carrying out designs.
- Develop an appreciation for principles of business practices and entrepreneurship.
