Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) in the College of Engineering at the University of North Texas! Our department started with an approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) in November 2004, to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) starting in January 2005 and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) starting in September 2007. The department recently moved into a brand new facility in the Research Park where we provide state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms.

We received approximately $1M through a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to implement "A Design- and Project-Oriented Innovative Electrical Engineering Program." This generous support from the NSF enables the EE department to strive for Excellence in Engineering Education. We introduce innovations into our design- and project-based educational programs with the help of partners from the local industry. We also incorporate cognitive methods in learning and appropriate business skills in the program.

We started the department in Jan 2005 with 10 students and by Fall 2007 we have an enrollment of 174 students. The hands-on design- and project-based education we offer with the help of our industrial adjuncts empower our students to embark on a challenging career in high-tech industry when they graduate. The learning-to-learn approach we use for fostering student-centered learning, enables our students with the necessary skills for life-long learning. We have started our graduate program in September 2007 with an intial enrollment of 26 students. Graduates students who aspire to be researchers in academia or industry can pursue research topics by working with one of our faculty members.

I invite you to explore this web site full of information about the department.
